About Policy and Communications Unit

The Learning and Skills Development Agency's Policy and Communications Unit monitors and analyses policy developments emerging from the range of government departments, national bodies and agencies that will have an impact on education and training. This includes cross-government initiatives that are not exclusively concerned with education, but which will create the policy context for longer-term developments in the area of public service. It also ensures, through appropriate communication strategies, that key messages from LSDA's activities are disseminated to inform policy-makers, public and professional opinion and practice.

The aim of the unit is to ensure that the LSDA, and the bodies with which it works, are aware of and able to influence the developing policy initiatives that will shape education and training. The work of the unit enables LSDA to be aware of and prepared to address the issues that will shape future agendas as well as responding to the immediate needs of colleges and training providers.

Our main outputs include:

  • responses to consultations
  • policy briefing papers
  • a range of other activities and events
  • managing and co-ordinating LSDA communications

The Policy and Communications Unit at the Learning and Skills Development Agency is supported by the Learning and Skills Council
